Honest Boundaries

What this is — and isn’t

What it is

A passive, externally-visible security scan. Evaluates the same signals an attacker could observe with public tools. Directionally accurate. Useful as a quick baseline before any deeper engagement.

What it isn’t

A penetration test or vulnerability assessment. It doesn’t touch systems inside your firewall and can’t evaluate internal segmentation, endpoint security, or employee training. Those engagements cost $5,000–$25,000+ and take weeks.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about the Cyber Score

What information do I have to provide?

Just your email domain (the part after the @ in your work email — e.g., enersystems.com). We do not require your name, contact info, company size, or any other details to run the scan.

Is the Cyber Score actually free, or is this a trial?

Completely free. No credit card, no account creation, no commitment. We offer this as a public service because most Louisiana businesses just want to know roughly where they stand before deciding whether to invest in a deeper engagement.

What does the Cyber Score actually measure?

Publicly observable security posture of your domain — including DNS records, mail authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), TLS/SSL certificate configuration, web server exposure, common vulnerabilities, and similar externally-visible signals. It is a passive scan; nothing touches systems inside your firewall.

Is this the same as a penetration test?

No. A penetration test (or vulnerability assessment) is an active, in-depth engagement that touches your internal systems with your explicit authorization, performed by certified security professionals. Those typically cost $5,000–$25,000+ and take 1–3 weeks. The Cyber Score is a free passive scan of your public posture — directionally accurate but not a substitute for a full assessment.

How long does it take?

About 60 seconds from entering your domain to seeing your score and findings.

Will Ener Systems contact me after I run the score?

No, unless you choose to contact us. The Cyber Score tool itself does not collect contact information beyond your email domain, and we do not reach out to domains that haven't asked to be contacted. If you want help interpreting the score, schedule a discovery call — but that is entirely opt-in.

Can I share my Cyber Score report with my IT team or board?

Yes. The report is yours; share it however you like. We have clients who use it as a baseline for board-level cybersecurity reporting and others who use it to evaluate prospective MSP providers.

Does running the Cyber Score reveal my company information to attackers?

No. The scan uses only publicly available data — the same data any attacker could observe with publicly available tools. Running the scan does not generate any new exposure; it just summarizes what's already visible to the public internet.

How accurate is the score?

Highly accurate for the externally-visible posture it measures (DNS, email auth, TLS, web exposure). It cannot see inside your firewall, so it cannot evaluate internal segmentation, endpoint security, employee training, or other inside-the-perimeter controls. For a full picture, a proper assessment is needed — but the score is a strong directional indicator.

What if my score is low — what should I do next?

If your score is low, the report will identify the specific issues found and roughly how serious each is. Many findings are quick fixes (DNS record updates, certificate renewals, etc.) that don't require an outside vendor. For more complex findings or if you want help prioritizing, schedule a free 15-minute discovery call — we'll walk through your specific findings with no obligation.
